- Soon PC gamers can roam the streets of Liberty City with Niko B. All the waiting finally pays off, since Rockstar Games give the PC version some graphics enhancements like a higher range of visibility. PCGH was on site in Leipzig, Germany.
At the Games Convention we had the chance to take a look at the PC version of the latest Grand Theft Auto offspring for the first time. According to Rockstar Games there are new features: better streaming, new textures with higher resolutions, a higher visibility range and the possibility to set the resolution up to 2,560 x 1,600. Additionally there are new game modes for the multiplayer and a function, which constantly records the game. This allows you to replay the last 30 seconds from various camera positions and edit the individual clips to create a video.
You can choose between mouse and keyboard or the Xbox 360 controller for PC. Those who played the predecessor already know that those features are not that innovative. The PC version of GTA San Andreas had a quite similar list of improvements.
The displayed Beta version of GTA 4 (PC) is not free of bugs. Tree textures sometimes looked very cubic and there were problems with the shadows. In general the critical points of the PC graphics are the same as they had been with the consoles. The Bloom effect is excessively used, textures appear to be washed-out and the characters or buildings in the background could have been a little more detailed.
But fans of the game series won't mind all that, when GTA 4 will be released for the PC on November, 21.
